Open Science Policy Writing Workshop (EUMEDPlus Project)
SESAME (Synchrotron-light for Experimental Science and Applications in the Middle East)
and
ASREN (Arab States Research and Education Network)
As part of the EUMEDPlus project, SESAME and ASREN are pleased to host a dedicated workshop focused on the development and writing of Open Science policies. The workshop aims to equip regional practitioners and policy-makers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively draft, implement, and promote open science policies within their institutions.
Clear and effective policies are essential to support open access to research data, scientific results, tools, software, and educational resources. Policies aligned with the FAIR principles—findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable—help ensure that research outputs are transparent, reproducible, and widely reusable.
Recognizing regional contexts, the workshop will provide hands-on guidance tailored to the unique regulatory and institutional frameworks of the region.
The Open Science Policy Writing Workshop will include:
• Interactive sessions on the principles and best practices of open science policy writing.
• Practical workshops on drafting policy documents, including addressing legal, ethical, and operational considerations.
• Expert-led discussions on overcoming challenges specific to regional institutions.
SESAME and ASREN invite all regional stakeholders involved in policy-making, research administration, and scientific management to participate in this workshop. Together, participants will advance the region's commitment to openness, transparency, and collaborative scientific practice.
This workshop is a vital component of the EUMEDPlus project's ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration and promote sustainable, equitable open science practices across institutions and borders.
