First Edition: Thematic Virtual Training Events and Hands-On Workshops
Following the successful completion of the first session of the SUNSTONE general lectures, the second phase of the 2025 SUNSTONE training School will offer an in-depth and specialized training opportunity for a selected group of researchers.
We are looking for 18 volunteers to attend our two part training school:
- An online thematic training sessions (dates will be defined after selection of the participants)
- An onsite hands-on workshops lectures at SESAME (5 to 9 october 2025), providing direct experience with its advanced instrumentation and beamline facilities
This combination of theoretical and practical training aims to equip participants with the tools and knowledge needed to develop high-quality research proposals and pursue collaborative projects within the SESAME user community.
The training will include thematic lectures focusing on:
· Targeted scientific research areas
· Technical aspects and capabilities of SESAME beamlines
· Sample preparation methodologies
· Data collection and analysis workflows
· Effective proposal writing for synchrotron research
The main criteria for the participants will be having attended the April general lectures.
We are not looking for experts in the field, but for enthusiastic, motivated, and curious people who are interested in a future career in synchrotron research techniques in three fields:
· Archaeology and Cultural Heritage
· Environmental Science
· Science in Operando Conditions
We invite you to apply by sending your CV (maximum 2 pages) and a motivation letter (maximum one page). Within your motivation letter, please specify your particular research focus within your chosen field (Archaeology and Cultural Heritage / Environmental Science / Science in Operando Conditions). Additionally, please describe your existing knowledge of synchrotron radiation and your interest in the SESAME synchrotron.
Answering the survey for general lectures will be mandatory for your application to be processed.
