BEATS X-ray tomography lectures and training course at SESAME

SESAME Allan (Jordan) 6th and 7th June 2023

BEATS, the BEAmline for Tomography at SESAME is an H2020 European project to build a beamline for tomography at the SESAME synchrotron in Jordan. BEATS involves leading research facilities in the Middle East (SESAME and the Cyprus Institute), and European synchrotron radiation facilities ALBA-CELLS (Spain), DESY (Germany), the ESRF (France), Elettra (Italy), INFN (Italy), PSI (Switzerland), and SOLARIS (Poland).

The initiative is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. The project is coordinated by the ESRF.

In order to qualify a group of early users from the SESAME region, a dedicated lecture & training course for the BEATS beamline will be offered on 6 – 7 June, 2023 at SESAME, in coincidence with the inauguration of the beamline. The lecture & training program aims at providing prospective users with the essential theoretical and experimental background knowledge in tomography and related techniques to enable them to use the beamline, and allow them to gain their first practical experience at the beamline.
