About the EUMEDplus project
EUMEDplus is a project co-funded by the European Union (EU) aimed at advancing digital infrastructure and boosting the research and education (R&E) landscape in North Africa. The project is coordinated by GÉANT with key partners including ASREN, the American University of Beirut, the Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique in Morocco, the Cyprus Research and Academic Network, NORDUnet, and SESAME in Jordan.

Workshop Overview
The workshop will give the participants a comprehensive understanding of Linux systems, equipping them with the skills to manage and maintain Linux-based environments effectively. It will cover creating and managing users and file systems, monitoring and executing software installation and package management, introducing new containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and learning scripting techniques for automating Linux tasks.
The labs cover user and group maintenance, software management, administration task automation, file system creation and maintenance, remote access management, working with cron, configuring basic file sharing and Web services, using system logging utilities, learning the fundamentals of containerization, and writing efficient scripts to reduce manual work and improve system reliability.
The workshop is designed for network engineers and system administrators who want to strengthen their Linux administration skills and develop their technical knowledge.
Meet the Trainers
Anas Mohammad (SESAME)
Data Engineer with three years of experience at SESAME, with a BSc in Mechatronics Engineering from HU. Specializes in designing, developing, and maintaining the Data Acquisition System (DAQ) on Linux OS for beamlines. Have the experience in managing high-performance data pipelines, optimizing real-time and batch processing for large-scale experimental data, and ensuring compliance with data management policies. Have the experience in integrating metadata, scientific computing, and open-source technologies.

Amro Aljadaa (SESAME)
Completed his bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan. He has seven years of experience as a software engineer, specializing in software automation, image processing, and artificial intelligence. Currently, he is developing software for control systems at SESAME and leading a project that manages controller software deployment using Docker and Kubernetes. His work requires deep expertise in Linux, containerization, networking, EPICS, Python, and C/C++ programming.

Ibrahim Foudeh (SESAME)
Graduate in Electrical Engineering from the University of Jordan,he is a highly accomplished Linux System Engineer with a robust background in optimizing enterprise IT infrastructure, virtualization, and cross-platform systems integration. Holding international certifications such as CCNA, CCNP Data Center, Ibrahim combines technical expertise with strategic vision to align technology solutions with organizational goals. Currently serving as a Linux System Engineer at SESAME ,he plays a pivotal role in maintaining high-performance, mission-critical systems that support cutting-edge scientific research.

Hadia Yaseen (ASREN)
Network engineer with background in network operations and system administration. She has a bachelor's degree in communication engineering from Yarmouk University. She has experience working with Linux-based environments, configuring and managing network services, troubleshooting systems and connectivity issues, deploying and managing eduroam services, configuring secure authentication and access management systems, and supporting federated identity solutions for research and education networks.
